I bought a new mattress today!

I've had my old mattress since I was four and I've always hated it. It's one of those ultra-super-mega-firm mattresses that went from being merely uncomfortable to "it hates us, precioussssss" as it aged. It's been about a year since I last slept on it.

My new one is a *fanfare* SOFT Sealy Posturepedic full-size! IT IS SO COMFY AND I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL IT ARRIVES.

And now my living room is going to look so much neater now that I'll no longer be using my couch as my bed XD

FF7 fic from waaaaaaay back

I'm looking for an old (OLD OLD OLD) FF7 fanfic called "Lost Messiah." It used to be posted on Geocities and at RPGamer's fanfic section. RPGamer's fanfic section seems to have disappeared, so I am lost D:

When I first read it in the 90s, I thought it was AWESOME. Then I read it again around 2003. It didn't age too terribly well.

But I want to read it again for the larfs!

Details I remember:
* there is an eyeless/blind crazywoman calling herself Messiah. She dated Sephiroth.
* Messiah had two kids by Sephiroth. Twins. One was named Flayme. The other was Yce or something.
* Tifa hooks up with one of the sons, I think. I'm not sure.
* Barret was in it! Yay Barret.
* ...I don't remember much else.

But this fic was considered one of the BEST way back when.

After having a sore throat for two weeks (whatever set up camp was routed out by antibiotics), I got chills and fever and generalized respiratory flu symptoms over Labor Day weekend. I had fun despite that -- I went to the Art Museum right when it opened and got to nerd around and look at a lot of stuff before the crowds really started up. I got all the way to Modern Art before my foot and my hip told me that it was time for an intervention. I'm definitely going to have to go back again soon.

When I went to work, I made the mistake of telling a friend within earshot of the bosses that I thought I had the flu. Apparently, "flu" is now the new f-word at work and my boss first wanted me to use a vacation day and go home (noooooo), then made me wear a mask over my nose and mouth. Work was warm anyway and I had a fever, so the mask was pretty miserable to wear (especially since those things are not glasses friendly). I got a flu test the next day, spent that night off work (unpaid), and went back to work the next day when the test came back negative. I felt amazingly human by that time, too. Woo! (Due to my time in the mask, another of my friends has nicknamed me "Vader" XD)

I got two pairs of amazingly awesome shoes the other weekend. One pair features Grover and the other features Count von Count. They are AWESOME and I need to take pictures of them. I wanted to get a pair that featured Oscar the Grouch because my feet are cranky little monsters, but they were all sold out in the size range I can wear. Apparently, the Sesame Street New Balances are THE hot shoe this school year~ I'm hoping they re-issue them so I can snag a pair of Oscars.

And I need more horrible fandom and writing-related icons for my writing journal. I need to scrounge some up XD

A quest to slay the monstrous clutter that is eating my apartment aliiiiiiiiiiive~ :O

My hip and foot hurt too much to start in on it fully today, but I went to the store and got some supplies.

MY INVENTORY:

Fabric boxes (4x): to store my gloves, hats, scarves, and miscellaneous winter gear up top of my closet.

14 gallon tote, Pepto Bismol pink (1x): to store the ancient and hideously hideous crap I drew and wrote in middle school and high school (that I brought up from the basement to laugh at and type up for Thea to laugh at). The color reflects what I need to get through some of that crap XD I still need to find stuff worth typing up, since I only wrote story fragments back then.

Totes, miscellaneous (?): I already have these back at the house. They're to store clothes and games and tapes.

Coat hangers (30x): I NEEDED MOAR COAT HANGERS D:

MISSION OBJECTIVE:

Declutter my closets and the corners of my room. Clear area around bed, so that I can get a NEW bedframe and mattress~

My mattress is TWENTY-THREE YEARS OLD. It started out hard and uncomfortable, and now it's hard, even more uncomfortable, and sounds possessed. My bedframe was a hand-me-down from my older cousins, gotten at the same time as the mattress, and it is falling apart. My cousins were evil to it, and I was a very hyper child who was prone to leaping from the bed to the floor and back again. It also didn't take well to being taken apart and put back together again for the move.

I also plan on switching out the ugly plastic hamper I have as book roundup in my living room with the pretty wicker hamper I have as jeans roundup in my bedroom.

I have so many fancy plans :D

I also have pictures I want to hang in the living room.

THE QUEST BEGINS:

Friday after work!

OTHER NEWS:

I have Philly Swirl ice cream cups. My hand is HUGE and belongs on the Staypuft Marshmallow Man XD

I'm off work until next week~

In other news I got VALKYRIE PROFILE COVENANT OF THE PLUME!

Apparently, Geocities is closing down later this year.

I know this sounds dumb, but this news made me feel a bit sad. Geocities was a big part of my early internet years and I remember spending hours working on my little Geocities-hosted fanfiction and fanart site. It's how and why I learned HTML. It's also how I met a few of the people -- Nichole, Flux, Laura S., and others -- I still IM and email today.

I still have the final skeleton of my Geocities account with various files on it that I need to archive.

I just realized that Snowbomb's Secret of Mana page is going to vanish in the purge. Wow :/

I spilled a bunch of flax seeds on my kitchen floor and, a second later, "Bananaphone" cued up on Winamp. The only thing better would have been better would have been the Benny Hill theme!

Those little things are a pain to clear up, and they have the unfortunate resemblence to full ticks. I really need to get one of those dustpans that have a standing handle. My balance ain't so good, and I know I'm going to faceplant during sweeping eventually XD

My new shoes are wooooooooonderful. I had some problems with my gray pair at work: the heel part was shaped a bit like a hoof and I'd get some terrible nerve pinches and muscle cramps on the top of my bad foot from trying to balance on that on the steps. The purple pair has a standard sole, though, so it's absolutely lovely at work. I've turned the gray pair into a distance walking shoe since it's okay on flat surfaces. (On a related note, one of my friends at work has given my walk a sound effect XD It's that dootdootdoot noise they reserve for insects walking around in cartoons, since I have to walk almost entirely on my heels and therefore take a miiiiiillion little steps especially when moving side to side or backwards. I love my friends XD)

I've been arting around a bunch lately and I need to post what I've drawn. It's mostly been doodles.

I've also been writing! I've got VPA stuff I need to finish up and edit so I can send them to Thea.

I got new work shoes today! I got to experience the MOST EXCELLENT wonder that is New Balance's extra wide shoes. Those things are the shizzit and I didn't even know that NB offered anything wider than a wide XD

I also went out to eat at the local Polish-American restaurant.
A couple of months ago, I was back at my heaviest weight due to a number of factors. I was starting to get scared that it was contributing to my foot issues.

I went on a small, sensible diet and lately, I've been starting to get pissed off at my saggy jeans.
I'm doing one of those Dev. Art memes for the FF series and I've been having a lot of fun with it. Here's the panel I'm currently working on (for the record, I listed FFX as my favorite FF with the Zanarkand backstory as the reason why):

XD
